Glass specifications

Check a glass order before production.

A practical review of dimensions, orientation, processing and the approved drawing.

Establish what the dimensions mean

Confirm whether the recorded measurements describe the opening or the finished glass. Check units and any agreed deductions. Write down which side the drawing is viewed from; left and right are ambiguous without an orientation.

For multiple panels, give each piece a clear identity. A list of four widths without panel labels is not enough to establish their positions or handings.

Review shape and processing together

Check glass type, thickness, quantity, edge finish and corner treatment before reviewing holes and cut-outs. For a rake, confirm which edge is high and how the slope is dimensioned.

Review feature positions against their reference edges. A hole schedule and a drawing should identify the same feature, size and location. If either is missing or unclear, hold the order for review rather than estimating from the preview.

Use the supplier's confirmed rules

Manufacturing limits vary with material, thickness, processing and supplier. Use the rules approved for your catalogue and supplier; do not assume a generic minimum distance or maximum size applies.

A configurator validation message is a check against configured rules, not a structural certification. Installation suitability and any engineering approval remain separate responsibilities.

Approve the actual production revision

Compare the latest commercial record, technical drawing and supplier or cutting document. A 3D preview helps explain appearance but does not replace the dimensioned production record.

If a dimension changes after approval, identify the new revision, review the price and lead-time effect, obtain the required approval and withdraw superseded instructions from production.

When to stop

Stop when dimensions conflict, an orientation is unknown, a feature is not dimensioned, a rule source is uncertain or the supplier's document differs from the approved drawing. Record the question against the job and assign it to the responsible person.

The useful outcome is an unambiguous instruction that another person can check. A visually plausible image alone does not provide that.
